WHEELING, W.VA. — The Notre Dame College Women's basketball team improved to 11-3 with a win over Wheeling University on Saturday afternoon with a final score of 73-61.
The Falcons were consistent in the win, spending almost 32 minutes of the game with the lead, and stretching the lead to as much as 16 points in the fourth quarter. Altogether, the two teams traded the lead just three times.
Defensively, the Falcons were on point in the paint. Theresa Parr finished with a season-high 14 rebounds, of which 13 were defensive. They also picked up six steals as a team, and held just one Cardinal player to double-figures points.
Offensively, Jada Marone earned her 14th game finishing in double-figure points with 24 total points, going 6-12 from the field and making 11 free throws, five rebounds, and three steals and assists. Lizzie Imrie added 14 points off the bench, and finished with a perfect shooting day. She was 4-4 from the field, 2-2 from beyond the arc, and 4-4 from the charity stripe.
Head Coach Lauren Macer said her team was all-business heading into tip-off today. "Our team came out focused. We moved the ball and looked to attack. When we got down early in the first, we regrouped and remained focus on finishing the game out strong. We want a similar result when we come home to finish out the regular season."
The Falcons, sitting at the top of the North Division, head home to South Euclid for the final two games of the 2021 regular season this week before the MEC tournament begins the first week of March.
