SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – After putting together a 21-point comeback and winning in overtime on Friday, Notre Dame College showed no signs of fatigue one day later against Seton Hill University. On the second day of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce Conference Challenge, the Falcons took an early lead and held off multiple runs by the Griffins to win, 93-86.
Seton Hill was getting to the basket early and held a lead throughout the first three minutes of the contest. The three-point shot provided a spark for NDC, as it did at times on Friday. Junior
Jaedon Willis knocked down back-to-back threes and Notre Dame grabbed a 10-7 advantage with 16:24 remaining on the first half clock. The Falcons would not give the lead away for the rest of the game.
Notre Dame was active on the defensive end and stole the ball four times in the first five minutes. Three of the steals led to points. A
Michael Sampson steal led to Willis' second three pointer on his back-to-back makes. Sophomore
John Godinez stole the ball on two consecutive SHU possessions, leading to a made free throw and a three pointer.
The Griffins cut the deficit to four points, 18-14, with a made three by Michael Joiner. Notre Dame responded with a 7-0 run. Sophomore

Michael Kirkland knocked down a jumper and then Sampson picked off a pass and took it the other way for a layup. With just under 11 minutes remaining in the first half, NDC led 25-14.
Beginning at the 6:43-mark, Seton Hill would start a 6-1 run that allowed them to claw back within two points, 33-31. But, NDC had another answer as Willis knocked down his third three pointer of the first stanza.
Willis finished the first half with 15 points and totaled 28 in the game, making nine shots.
In the final minute-and-a-half, the teams traded baskets, but Willis stepped up again and either scored or assisted on NDC's final seven points of the half. The Falcons led 52-45 after 20 minutes.
Through the first six minutes of the second half, Seton Hill threatened to put together a comeback, but could not get closer than four points.
Missed shots and turnovers deflated the Griffins in the middle of the half, and NDC took advantage. The Falcons went on a 7-0 scoring run and pushed their lead to 11 points, 71-60, with 9:37 on the clock.
That Notre Dame lead would expand to 16 with under three minutes remaining. Seton Hill made it interesting in the final 30 seconds, as they took advantage of a couple turnovers and put together a 6-0 run, trailing by just five points, 91-86. That would be as close as they would get.
NDC had four players score in double-digits. Along with Willis, Crawford added 16 and Sampson and Godinez had 14, each. Sampson shot the ball at 71-percent from the field (5-for-7) and Godinez shot 86-percent (6-for-7).
Seton Hill did total 16 more points in paint than NDC and outrebounded the Falcons, 30-27, but Notre Dame went 29-for-46 (63-percent) from the field and 10-for-18 (56-percent) from long range.
Notre Dame has a week off and will start Mountain East Conference play next Saturday, Nov. 20, with a trip to Wheeling University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
