Charleston, WV – The Notre Dame College women's soccer team (3-5-3, 3-4-3 MEC) traveled to the University of Charleston (8-4, 7-3 MEC) on Sunday afternoon for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Golden Eagles came away victorious 2-0 in full time.
In the first half, Charleston got on the board early with a 4
th minute goal by Katy O'Reilly.
Sammy Salatino and
Kalie Blaising would respond with shots on goal in the 6
th and 16
th minutes but Kaylee Hensley kept the Falcons off the scoreboard.
Madison Marino in the 37
th minute would place a shot low left on goal, ending the offensive attack for NDC in the half.
In the second half, Laura Vierhout would extend the Charleston lead to 2-0 with her 58
th minute goal.
Meredith Foster would record the only shot on goal in the second half for NDC in the 88
th minute.
In total, Notre Dame would generate seven total shots with five coming on goal, along with one corner kick and one yellow card from Blaising. UC shot the ball 11 times and put six on target. Moreover, they had seven corner kicks and one yellow card from Lotte Bovy.
Notre Dame College will be back in action on Wednesday Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. when the Falcons traveled to Institute, WV to face West Virginia State University.
