CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Notre Dame College took an early lead against No. 6 ranked University of Charleston, on the road. UC came back with three goals in the first half and one in the second to win 4-1, on Sunday afternoon.
Just nine minutes into the match, freshman
Ailton Fagner Silva launched a shot from about 40 yards away. The ball stayed on a line and sailed over UC goalkeeper Marc Torrado. The Falcons led 1-0.
The Golden Eagles responded quickly, and less than five minutes after NDC's goal, Gabriel Rodriguez sent a pass to Eduardo Iranzo and Iranzo put the ball in the net to knot the score up at 1.
UC continued to find opportunities and took three shots on goal between the 18th minute and the 22nd minute, but NDC goalkeeper
Pedro Alves kept the ball in front of him. Alves finished the game with five saves.
In the span of 10 minutes, Emil Rasmussen and Alexis Ledoux each scored for Charleston. The Golden Eagles led 3-1 at halftime and took seven shots in the first 45 minutes.
Alves stopped another shot in the 54th minute and would save a penalty kick with about 22 minutes remaining. Charleston put the final goal on the scoreboard with a penalty kick in the 65th minute to take a 4-1 advantage.
NDC will face a non-conference opponent in Seton Hill University, on Oct. 20. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
