INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- Notre Dame used a strong second half to get past West Virginia State, 75-63, on Wednesday night at the Walker Convocation Center.
WVSU led by a bucket at the break, 37-35, but a 14-4 run by the Falcons gave Notre Dame a 51-44 lead with 4:12 left in the third quarter. NDC would end up taking a 55-50 lead heading into the fourth.
The Yellow Jackets got to within two early in the final stanza, but a 7-0 run by NDC put the Falcons up 62-53 with 7:10 left. Notre Dame's
Jada Marone scored five of the seven points draining a three and hitting a layup. The Falcons would hold a double-digit lead for most of the rest of the way to take the win.
Marone finished with 25 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists to lead Notre Dame (3-0, 3-0 MEC).
Marina Adachi had 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Theresa Parr chipped in 11, and
Amil Ali-Shakir had double figures with 10.
