Battle of the long ball goes in favor of UIndy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Notre Dame College and the University of Indianapolis combined for seven home runs in the second game of the series. Indianapolis pulled away after the third inning and won the game by a final score of 22-9, on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons showed off their power in the first three innings of the game and grabbed an early lead.

With runner on base, Nick Farrell hit his second home run of the season in the top of the first inning. In the second inning, NDC's Drake May reached on an error and Matt Richards walked before Aaron Miller knocked in three with his first collegiate homer. And in the third inning, Farrell walked to lead off the inning before Kyle Espineli put a two out, two-run home run over the right field fence.

Notre Dame led 7-6 after three innings, but Indianapolis led off the bottom of the fourth inning with back-to-back-to back home runs which led to a big inning.

In the ninth inning, Shane Mittleman recorded an RBI on a ground out and Farrell singled in another run.

The Falcons will wrap up this series with the University of Indianapolis, tomorrow, with a scheduled first pitch of 12 p.m.
