INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Notre Dame College put three runs on the board in the ninth inning, but, big fifth and sixth innings for the University of Indianapolis gave the Greyhounds a 13-5 win, on Sunday afternoon.
Extra-base hits put UIndy in the lead, early in the game. Hunter Waning doubled to left field in the first inning to put the first run on the board. In the second inning, John Carpinelli doubled in three more runs. To lead off the third inning, Coby Taylor hit a solo home run.
NDC's first run touched home plate in the top of the fifth.
Patrick Aitken and
Aaron Miller both singled to lead off the inning. Both moved up on a passed ball and two batters later,
Corey Miley hit an RBI groundout. Then, a single by
Drake May in the sixth inning scored
Joseph Paskell.
Notre Dame went into the ninth inning trailing 13-2. Aitken reached on an error to begin the inning, Miller walked and
Lukas Thompson walked to load the bases. Miley knocked in two more RBI with a single to left field. Miley would steal second before
Nick Farrell grounded out to score Thompson. A pop out and groundout ended the game.
For NDC, Miley went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Miller recorded a hit in the game and now has a four-game hitting streak.
Ben Ross had a solid series, totaling five hits over three games. Farrell had four RBI in the series.
The Falcons now come home to play Lake Erie College at Sprenger Stadium on March 7. The double-header will begin at 1 p.m.
