WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – On the second day of the Atlantic Region Crossover, Notre Dame College fell to Mercyhurst University and Clarion University in three sets.
In the first set against Mercyhurst, the Lakers led 24-19 and looked like they would walk away with a set victory. However, the momentum swung in favor of the Falcons and NDC put five consecutive points on the board to tie the game at 24. A service error by Mercyhurst started the run and then sophomore

Sarah DeGeorge added two aces and then an attack error tied the game. But, MU closed out the game with two kills to win the set 26-24.
The Lakers were in control through much of the second and third set, winning by a score of 25-15 and 25-10, respectively.
Senior
Mary Kate McHugh was at the top of the stat sheet with 11 kills and only two errors, putting together a hit percentage of .310. Senior
Paige Staudacher totaled 21 assists and seven digs. A day after breaking the Notre Dame record for most digs in a three set match (31), senior
Alexandra Kaeberlein finished the match today with 17.
For Mercyhurst, three players had double-digit kills as Katie Baird led the way with 15 kills and a hit percentage of .444. Alexa Mitchell had 37 assists and 11 digs. Hannah Vuylsteke led the team with 16 digs.
After falling behind 2-0 against Clarion with a 25-20 loss in the first set and a 25-16 loss in set two, the Falcons found their stride in the third set, scoring the first four points and pushing their lead to 5-2. CU bounced back to grab a 9-5 lead but NDC then responded with a 10-2 run to retake the advantage. Later, the Golden Eagles came back to tie the set at 19 and the game was tied six times following that point. A 3-0 run ended the set as Clarion came away with a tough 27-25 victory.
Freshman
Kaye Dregalla had 13 kills while Richardson recorded eight kills and a hit percentage of .389. Freshman
Amelia Kaeberlein led the team with 13 digs.
Julia Holden led Clarion with 25 kills and posted a hit percentage of .458. Alexa Cundy added 42 assists and Chrissy Cotton had 16 digs.
NDC will come home to battle Fairmont State University on September 27. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
