Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Conference play starts with draw

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - For the second game in a row, the Notre Dame College women's soccer team and its opponent were held scoreless to tie 0-0 after regulation and two overtimes. The Falcons played their first Mountain East Conference game at West Liberty to move their record to 1-1-2 on the year.

Unlike the previous tie against Lake Erie, where the Storm were held to zero shots, Notre Dame was out-shot in this contest 15-9. But goalkeeper Kyra McDowell held tough. McDowell recorded seven saves in her 16th career shutout. The junior from Ogden, Utah already holds the NDC record for most shutouts in the NCAA Division II era, but is now over halfway to the overall program record of 29 that was set by Kristy Kolschetzky.

The Falcon offense was led by Ellie Gess, who recorded three shots. Gess leads the team with eight shots on the year. Inga Kristin Adalsteinsdottir was second on the team with two shots, including one on goal. Overall, NDC was able to put four shots on goal, two coming from starters and two from the reserves.

Notre Dame will look for its first conference win at Fairmont State on Sunday, September 22. Kickoff at FSU is scheduled for 4 p.m.
