SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – With a large comeback, Notre Dame College took their first lead of the game 10 minutes into second half with a run of five consecutive goals. But the University of Charleston snuck by and won by a score of 21-13, on Thursday afternoon.
Notre Dame took the first two shots of the game, but Kyra Tye saved both, including a free position shot. She came into the game second in the MEC in save percentage. Charleston's offense took advantage by scoring the first goal of the game. The Golden Eagles would score the first three goals of the contest.
Freshman
Katie Wendell scored one of her three first half goals to put NDC on the board. Later in the half, between the 16:51-mark and the 15:18-mark, sophomore

Danyelle Hardy scored free position goals, making the score 4-3, in favor of Charleston.
A few minutes later, Hardy scored again, with an assist by sophomore
Bridie Schmalz. NDC, again, pulled within a goal, 5-4. That would be as close as NDC could get, and Charleston went into the halftime break leading, 10-7.
Samantha Youngman scored the first goal of the second half for Charleston, but then the Falcons went on an offensive tear. Over five minutes, the Falcons scored five goals and grabbed their first lead of the game, 12-11. Carter and Wendell, each, scored two goals. On the other side of the field, goalkeeper
Ellejanna Cicione recorded three saves and the defense caused two turnovers to keep UC scoreless.
Charleston responded, scoring nine straight goals. Emma Renda scored three of the goals and Brianna Rock scored twice, during their run.
NDC's Wendell set a career-high with five goals and five ground balls. She tied a career-high with three caused turnovers. Carter scored four goals and Hardy put the ball in the net three times.
For Charleston, Renda scored eight goals, Youngman had four goals while Rock and Aryanna Jones each had three goals. Peyton Harris assisted on two goals and won seven draw controls. Both goalkeepers, Tye and Cicione, saved 14 shots.
Notre Dame will wrap up their regular season with a road game against the University of Virginia's College at Wise. The game will begin at 11 a.m.
