Game Recap: Baseball |

NDC falls in day one at Fairmont State

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Notre Dame College baseball team dropped its first two games against Fairmont State 4-0 and 6-5 on Saturday as the two teams fight for second place in the MEC North Division.

Game one was a pitching showcase for Fairmont State's Michael Stout, who has been one of the top pitchers in the Mountain East Conference in 2019. Stout allowed just three hits in a complete game shutout as he improved to 6-1.

In game two, each team got a chance to shine on the offensive end. Notre Dame was first on the board with two runs in the second inning after Naja Garcia and Lukas Thompson batted in a pair of base runners. FSU defended its home status in the next two innings as the Fighting Falcons scored five in the third and one in the fourth. The visiting Falcons responded as well in the fifth innings with three runs, but it was just short for the comeback attempt.

Joseph Paskell, Rick Phillips and Corey Miley each drove in a run in the fifth inning as Thompson, Zach Santoro and Phillips scored.

Paskell led the day for NDC with three hits on the day while Thompson and Phillips each tallied two.

Notre Dame's Sunday games have been moved up to begin at 10:30 a.m.
