Lacrosse falls on final day in Colorado

PUEBLO, Colo. – Notre Dame College lacrosse suffered their first loss of the season at Colorado State University-Pueblo, on Monday. The Falcons went 2-for-3 on free position attempts in the second half, but fell by a score of 18-5.

CSU-Pueblo put the first four goals on the scoreboard in six minutes. The Falcons had four turnovers in the first seven minutes, but on their first lengthy possession, junior Blaike Windsor worked around the net with a defender on her back. She faked a move to the left and spun to the right, putting the ball in the net at the 22:09-mark.

The next Notre Dame goal came with 3:27 remaining before the end of the half. Freshman Danyelle Hardy took a pass from senior Taylor Henderson on the right side of the goal, and Hardy fired it past the goalie. At halftime, CSU-Pueblo led 14-2.

Less than two minutes into the second half, NDC got the scoring started as sophomore Selena Carter converted a free position shot.

The Falcons scored again, about 11 minutes later, when NDC grabbed a turnover and ran down the field. The ball became loose and bounced off a few players before Hardy was somehow able to ricochet the ball past the goalie.

Sophomore Roxanne Zachar had the final goal for NDC. A free position goal pulled the Falcons within 10 goals, 15-5, with 15:13 remaining.

Freshman Sydney DeCamp led Notre Dame by grabbing three ground balls. Three players won two draw controls.

CSU-Pueblo's Taylor Christensen led the team with four goals while Kennedi Cantrell and Elyse Ingram each scored three goals. Allison Wurscher added five assists and Olivia Tener had seven draw controls.

On March 14, the Falcons will play at Walsh University. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
