This week:Â Notre Dame College women's lacrosse opens their season on the road against Ashland University on February 23, at 1 p.m.
Records: Last season, NDC finished with a record of 3-11 and 0-5 in the MEC. Ashland enters its first season as a program.
Coaches Corner:Â
Pam Jenkins is now in her third season as the head coach at NDC with an overall record of 5-21. Shaun Williamson is the first coach of the AU program.
Rankings: Neither of these teams are ranked in the IWLCA Coaches Poll.
Series History: This is the first meeting between the two teams.
Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame is looking to win their second consecutive season opener, after defeating Madonna University to begin the 2018 season. The Falcons return three of their top five goal scorers from last season.
Taylor Henderson (28 goals) led the team in goals with
Selena Carter in second with 21.
Abigail Plewes also returns, after posting 12 goals in 2018. The Falcons scored 23 more goals in 2018 than they did in 2017.
Taylor Henderson also led the squad with six assists, 34 points and was second with seven free position goals.
Selena Carter finished last season leading the team in free position goals (9) and draw controls (43). NDC will look to replace the productivity of
Bailey Reardon and
Katherine Elsenbeck who graduated after last season when they were second (27) and third (23), respectively, in ground balls for the team. Reardon also led the team with 22 caused turnovers and Elsenbeck was third on the team with 13 goals.
Noting the Eagles: Picked to finish ninth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. Hired their first head coach, Shaun Williamson, on October 31, 2017.
