ATHENS, W.Va. – The Notre Dame College men's basketball team suffered a 79-76 loss at Concord on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Lions and Falcons were even on free throws and shots made inside the three-point line, but CU had one more three, which turned out to be the difference on Saturday.
Concord took a 39-37 lead into halftime after a solid performance by the NDC offense kept things within striking distance.
Notre Dame took a lead early in the second half after a three from
Deanthony Owens put the Falcons up 43-40. But after that make, Concord went on a 16-5 run to go back up by eight points.
Throughout the rest of the game, Notre Dame would slowly chip away at the Mountain Lions' lead, getting it within two points twice in the final minute of competition.
Bruce Hodges III scored on a fast break with eight seconds to go to make it a one-possession game. Concord missed the second of two free throws after NDC sent its opponent to the line to stop the clock. Notre Dame got the rebound with six second to go, but was unable to get a shot off.
Levi Frankland led the way with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-7 from distance.
Larenz Thurman showed off his skills with 13 points, six rebounds and six assists. Hodges and
Drew Scarberry also scored in double digits with 11 points each.
Jacob Sala had a solid game as well with seven points in 12 minutes off the bench. Sala also grabbed four rebounds while making all three of his field goal attempts.
Notre Dame will travel to Davis & Elkins on Thursday, December 12, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
