FAIRMONT, W.Va. - The Notre Dame College women's soccer team lost 1-0 at Fairmont State on Wednesday evening after the Fighting Falcons scored after a corner kick.
The lone goal of the game came from Rachel Phillips who was able to find the back of the net after Louise Welch took a corner kick to reach Phillips in the goalkeeper box. FSU was able to earn five corner kicks in the contest while keeping Notre Dame to zero.
The NDC Falcons were able to out-shoot their hosts 10-9 including a five to four advantage on shots on goal, but it was not enough. Notre Dame was able to spread the ball around with six different players taking shots and the five shots on goal coming from five different players.
NDC falls to 1-4, (1-1 MEC) on the season while Fairmont State improves to 3-1 (2-0 MEC).
Notre Dame will play on the road again next Thursday, September 20, at Wheeling Jesuit. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start time.
