ERIE, Pa. - The Notre Dame College women's soccer team took its first road trip of the season to Gannon on Saturday evening, and the result was in favor of the home team as the Golden Knights won 3-0.
Overall, the shots taken were fairly even on both sides as NDC took eight shots compared to GU's nine, but eight of Gannon's shots were on goal while the Falcons only took three shots on goal.
Taylor Lewis bookended the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute and 71st. Lewis now has three goals on the season. The junior also assisted on the second goal of the game.
Maranda Melton took over on the offensive end for Notre Dame with five of the eight shots from the team, two of which were on goal. Melton missed the 2017 season, but seems to have not missed a beat as she leads the team in shot attempts after two games. The senior forward has played all but 20 minutes so far this season.
Notre Dame will play its third and final non-conference game on Wednesday, September 5, at Ashland. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
