Noting the Falcons: NDC played a close game with Northern Michigan throughout the first half on March 6, going into halftime down by one goal, 6-5. The Falcons were able to get two goals form
Selena Carter and one from
Katherine Elsenbeck,
Abigail Plewes and
Victoria Martin before halftime. However, the Wildcats scored the final eight goals of the game and won 20-8. Carter finished with three goals and Elsenbeck had two. Carter also had nine ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
Selena Carter is now ranked 12th in NCAA Division II in caused turnovers per game with 3.33 and 15th in the nation in ground balls per game with 4.67. Carter leads the team with eight goals while
Taylor Henderson has nine points and four assists.
Noting the Hornets: Kalamazoo College played at Indiana Tech on March 6 and got off to a hot start scoring the first three goals of the game and led 8-3 at halftime. Amanda Moss had three goals at the break. Indiana Tech then took over in the second half and scored the final five goals of the game. Sam Vikstrom scored the winning goal, and gave Indiana Tech their first lead of the game, with 1:23 to go. Kalamazoo lost 11-10. Moss had three goals and four shots on goal. Caroline Mundell and Rachel Madar each had three goals. Madar won six draw controls. Goalie Katie Johnson stopped 18 shots from going into the goal. The Hornets were held to two goals and four shots in the second half.
Rachel Madar leads the team this season with 12 goals, 14 points and 23 draw controls. Amanda Moss and Sam Jacobsen each have four assists. Lilly Baumann has accumulated 13 ground balls.
Noting the Cavaliers: Walsh also lost 11-10 on March 6, to the University of Charleston. Walsh led 6-5 at the half in a back-and-forth battle that saw four ties in the first half. Charleston used a 4-0 run from the 4:38-mark in the second half until the 2:31-mark in order to grab their first lead and then put an insurance goal on the board (11-9). Samantha Youngman scored the first two on the run and Aryanna Jones scored the final two. Walsh scored the last goal of the game with 1:37 left, but fell one goal short. Emma Armour recorded five goals on 10 shots. She also had three assists. Sarah McCormick grabbed eight draw controls. Mikaela Faus had 15 saves in goal and played all but ten seconds. Rebecca Tomaszewski came in and allowed one goal. The Cavaliers were 7-for-9 on clears.
Emma Armour leads the team with eight goals, three assists and 11 points. Sarah McCormick has 13 draw controls and Halle Kotulock has recorded three caused turnovers.
