SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Notre Dame College outscored Ursuline College 7-5 in the second half, but it was not enough as the Falcons fell by a score of 19-10, on Tuesday afternoon.
Ursuline (2-5) got off to a hot start, as they searched for their first win since March 3. The Arrows put the first 11 goals on the scoreboard. Michaela Riley scored three goals during the run.
The Falcons (2-5) were able to score their first goal of the game with 9:37 remaining before halftime, when sophomore
Blaike Windsor put the ball in the back of the net.
UC scored the final goal of the half, with 36-seconds remaining and led NDC by a score of 14-3 at the break.
Just as they had done in several games already this season, NDC came out strong in the second half. The Falcons scored five of the first seven goals to begin the second stanza. The five goals were scored by five different players, and with 11:23 to go in the game, Notre Dame had cut the deficit to eight, 16-8.
However, the pace slowed down and Ursuline was able to regain their lead of 10 with a goal by Abby Allard at the 4:15-mark.
The final goal for NDC came with 1:07 left, as freshman
Selena Carter netter her second goal of the half.
Windsor ended the game with three goals, on six shots for NDC. Senior
Katherine Elsenbeck and Carter each had two goals. Carter also had two caused turnovers and nine draw controls. The Falcons were 4-for-7 with their free position shots.
Riley and Cydney Bartlett each scored four goals for Ursuline. Natalie Nowicki and Abigail Neeley had three goals. 10 different players caused a turnover and the Arrows were 7-of-8 with free position shots.
The Falcons will take on Siena Heights University at home, on March 29. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
