Notre Dame lacrosse battles Lourdes at home and then hits the road to take on IUP

Next Games: Notre Dame College women's lacrosse will play Lourdes University at home on March 22 at 4 p.m. and then will play on the road against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on March 24 at 1 p.m.

Records: Notre Dame currently holds a record of 2-3, Lourdes is 4-2 and Indiana (Pa.) is 4-1.

Coaches Corner: Pam Jenkins is entering her second season as head coach at NDC and holds a record of 4-13. Alyssa Shaver is currently in her first season as the head coach of the Gray Wolves and Mindy Richmond is in her tenth season as head coach of IUP with a career record of 98-62.

Rankings: The Crimson Hawks are currently ranked 16th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll.

Series History: The Falcons will be playing Lourdes for the first time. NDC holds an 0-2 record against IUP, but haven't played them since 2012.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame lost 16-5 to Walsh University on March 14, in their only game of the past week. Walsh led 9-3 after the first half. Notre Dame did go 3-for-3 on free position shots. Selena Carter scored two goals on three shots and won six draw controls. Goal keeper Morgan Belting had 10 saves and six ground balls.

Selena Carter leads the team with 16 goals, 18 groundballs, 12 caused turnovers and 27 draw controls. Taylor Henderson has scored nine goals this season on 20 shots on goal. Bailey Reardon is second on the team with five caused turnovers.

Noting the Gray Wolves: Lourdes University defeated Bethel University on March 15 by a score of 23-3. Lourdes led 14-1 at halftime and took 19 shots. Bethel was held to just four shots in the game and LU won 21 of the 28 draw controls. Alyssa Long scored four goals and had two assists while Katherine Garver had four goals and three assists and Shelby Kellar scored four goals on six shots. Two players scored three goals.

This season, Alyssa Long leads the team with 27 goals and 11 assists while Hannah Cullis has 29 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and 25 draw controls.

Noting the Crimson Hawks: Indiana (Pa.) beat Catawba University 25-7 on March 15. Catawba was held to just one goal in the second half. The Crimson Hawks took 42 shots in the game and went 15-for-21 on clear attempts. Adriana Greco scored six goals and had one assists as her teammate, Ally Burrows, had five goals and three assists. Riley Greenleaf recorded four goals and two assists. Lauren Robinson added four turnovers while Lauren Piecknick had three caused turnovers. On March 17, IUP only led by one goal at the half, but held on to win 15-12 over Kutztown University. Indiana (Pa.) won the draw control battle 20-9 and took eight more shots than Kutztown. Greco had six goals and two assists and Ally Burrows added four goals and two assists. Rachel Becker caused four turnovers. Their first loss of the season came on March 20, when they lost 12-11 to Mercyhurst University. They trailed 9-5 at halftime but tied the game with two minutes remaining. Grace Lawson hit the game winning goal for MU with 28-seconds left. Greenleaf had five goals for IUP and Greco added three goals.

This season, Adriana Greco leads the team with 23 goals and 10 free position goals (4). Lauren Robinson has 14 assists this season and Mollie Gallagher has seven caused turnovers and 11 groundballs on the season.
