Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

NDC wins with passing and Ramlow’s career night

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – In a fast-paced game, the Notre Dame College women's basketball team outlasted the visiting West Virginia State on Wednesday night to win 93-82.

The Yellow Jackets won the first quarter 20-15 bringing their style of play to Murphy Gymnasium with multiple substitutions and line changes throughout the game. Often, five-player units would see the floor for only a minute or two before being subbed out for a new group. This quick pace favored WVSU for only one quarter though as Notre Dame won the final three, including 46-31 in the second half.

"I actually feel like that style of play was an advantage for us," said head coach Lauren Macer. "We're a deep team and were able to use our entire bench tonight without getting tired or missing a step."

Not only did everyone play, but everyone contributed to the win with 11 players scoring, seven players recording multiple rebounds, including six who secured five or more, and six players tallying multiple assists. And even though it was a team effort to win the contest, there were definitely some standouts.

Kyleigh Ramlow scored a career-high 28 points with the use of six three-pointers. Her second three of the game gave NDC its first lead since the opening minutes of the game and kick started a 16-point third quarter performance. The Toledo, Ohio native made four shots beyond the arc in the third quarter alone. Her six three is tied for fourth most in NDC single-game history.

"She really stepped up for us," Macer said. "She has the right mentality and knows that I believe in her and her teammates believe in her. She found her rhythm and just kept letting them go."

All six of Ramlow's threes were assisted on, with four coming off passes from Katie Karalic. Overall, the Falcons recorded 31 assists, which is second most in a game in the program's history and most in an NCAA Division II game.

Another player creating highlights was Seina Adachi, who came near to a triple-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. She also added five steals and a block in her time on the court.

"Seina is a competitor so she'll do anything she can to make sure we're successful on the court," Macer said. "She played 33 minutes, and even though she didn't score her normal amount, she still found ways to make sure we were going to be positive when she was on the court."

Karalic and Marisa Finazzo also finished in with double-digit points, scoring 12 and 10, respectively. The pair also found ways to get their teammates on the board finishing with a combined 13 assists.

Abi Oriti was second on the team in rebounds with seven while Karalic and Jessie Stout came down with six each.

Macer was happy with the way her team played and was excited to showcase her player's talents.

"Everyone was part of this win and that's so important for our team," she said. "I was proud of the way they played and moved the ball. I give credit to my guards because they it's a tough defense to play against and I give credit to my post players because they were working and finding the openings."

Notre Dame will play at Charleston on Saturday, December 8, at 2 p.m.
