WHEELING, W.Va. – Notre Dame College was defeated by No. 18 Wheeling Jesuit University, in the final game of the regular season, on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals (31-3, 16-0 MEC) won by a score of 25-14 over NDC in all three sets. Wheeling Jesuit, who is in first place in the Mountain East Conference, had a hit percentage of .288 over the three sets.
Notre Dame ends the regular campaign with 16 wins and eight conference victories. Both of those win totals tie the best marks that the program has had since entering Division II.
Junior
Mary Kate McHugh had seven kills for the Falcons and she added 11 digs, while junior
Erin Daugherty also had seven kills to go along with a hit percentage of .174. Junior
Paige Staudacher gave NDC 19 assists. Junior
Alexandra Kaeberlein helped out defensively with 22 digs.
Cassie Meyer led WJU with 12 kills and 16 digs, while she also had a hit percentage of .414. Stephanie Sylvester added 30 assists and Haley Kramer put down four blocks.
NDC will play next in the Mountain East Conference tournament, which begins on November 8. The Falcons are currently the seventh seed in the MEC.
