URBANA, Ohio - In the final regular-season game of the year, the Notre Dame College women's soccer team won at Urbana 3-0. The Falcons scored all three of their goals in the opening half to give themselves a cushion in the second half.
Katarina Doncevic scored the first goal of the game on an unassisted shot in the 13th minute. Thirteen minutes after the opening goal,
Alexandria Gayle crossed a ball, which bounced off an Urbana player for an own goal to put NDC up 2-0. To round out the first-half scoring frenzy,
Andrea Spinelli scored on a shot that was assisted by
Stine Austad.
Throughout the contest, the Notre Dame offense was able to get off eight shots, all of which were on goal.
The defense played up to the offense's output, allowing just one shot on goal in the 90 minutes of play. Goalkeeper
Kyra McDowell saved that lone shot to record her eighth shutout of the year.
The Falcons, already having secured the No. 1 seed in the North Division of the Mountain East Conference, will play the the winner of the No. 2/No. 3 matchup from the South Division.
Notre Dame will host their playoff game on Friday, November 2, at 3 p.m. against the winner of the Charleston/Concord game, which will be played on Tuesday, October 30. NDC defeated both Charleston and Concord 1-0 earlier this season.
