URBANA, Ohio - The Notre Dame College baseball team went 1-1 at Urbana in its final competition of the season. NDC won the first game 11-2, but fell in the second 13-4.
In game one, the Falcons over in the fourth inning, scoring the first seven runs of the game.
TJ Lett brought in three of those runs off a triple to right field. The team scored four more runs in the seventh and final inning, which was capped off by home run by
Zach Santoro that brought in two runs. Santoro also recorded an RBI in the fourth inning to tie Lett's three RBIs in the game.
Danny Beaver repeated his feat from yesterday, tallying four hits, three of which were doubles. Beaver's three doubles, combined with three more from the team resulted in a season-high for the Falcons.
Earning his team-best sixth win of the year was freshman
Tyler Gault who allowed just one earned run in the complete game. It was Gault's sixth complete game of the season as he led the team in that category as well as innings pitched (71.1) and shutouts (2).
In game two, Urbana took a 2-1 lead after the first inning and capitalized on two five-run innings to secure the victory. Adam Guay (7-1) once again showed his abilities on the mound allowing just six hits and three earned runs in nine innings pitched.
The Falcons were strong on the mound as well in the final three innings as the freshmen duo of
Tyler Dalzell and
Kevin Guzik threw 3.1 innings without allowing a run. Guzik pitched the final two innings of the game without allowing a single runner to reach base.
Notre Dame went 18-32 this season with a conference record of 13-19. They will say goodbye to six players including Beaver and Lett who both hit over .300 and led the team in every major category this season.
