First road win of 2017

OLIVET, Mich. – Notre Dame College took down Olivet College, with a dominant 22-4 road victory, on Wednesday afternoon.

The win for the Falcons (2-3) is their first road win of the season and moves their record, away from home, to 1-2. The Comets (0-5) have lost by 17, or more, points in three of their five games this season.

Notre Dame jumped out to an early advantage, scoring the first eight goals, including three goals by Darbie Barkman and two goals by Blaike Windsor.

Olivet's only goal of the first half came from Krystin Verran at the 21:20-mark. The Falcons responded as Barkman scored four consecutive goals and NDC scored the final nine goals of the half.

Notre Dame led 17-1 at the halftime break. They had 25 shots, 19 on goal and grabbed 12 draw controls in the first half. OC took only four shots and committed 12 turnovers.

In the second half, it was more of the same as Barkman scored four of the five Notre Dame goals. NDC took nine more shots and five draw controls in the second half.

Barkman scored 12 goals and had four assists. She had a total of 16 points in the game. Ashlee Boyko, Halie Taylor and Windsor had three goals, each.

Verran scored three goals for the Comets. Olivet took only 10 shots, as a team.

The Falcons will play Ursuline College, at home, on Sunday, April 2. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
