SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Notre Dame College scored five goals in both halves, but it was not enough in their 22-10 loss to Northern Michigan University, on Sunday morning.
The loss for Falcons (1-3 overall) is their second straight loss. The win for the Wildcats (2-5) ends their five game losing streak and is their first win in March.
The game was close in the first six minutes with both teams trading goals. Shelby Klotz scored the first goal of the game for NMU, but the Falcons'
Ashlee Boyko put the ball in the back of the net, to tie the game, at the 28:09-mark.
Savannah Stich scored a goal with 24:15 remaining in the first half, to put the Wildcats up 4-2. That goal was the beginning of an 8-0 run for the visiting team, who went up 11-2 with 14:29 to go on a Blair Osgood goal.
Darbie Barkman put the ball in the back of the net with 34-seconds left in the half, making the score 14-5 in favor of Northern Michigan.
Barkman scored the first goal of the second half, but the Wildcats responded by scoring the next four goals.
The Falcons were outscored by three, 8-5, in the second half.
Northern Michigan's Klotz had nine goals while, Osgood and Stich both had four goals. The Wildcats had 29 shots, 25 on goal. They also won in the draw control battle, 24-10, including 12 more draw controls in the first half than Notre Dame grabbed.
For NDC, Barkman had five goals and one assist while Boyko added two goals. The Falcons had 18 shots, 14 on goal and scooped up 11 groundballs.
The Falcons will now travel to Olivet, Mich. to play Olivet College on March 29. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
