WHEELING, W.Va. - Three goals, all scored by senior
Alexis Manoa, highlighted a 3-2 victory for the Notre Dame College women's soccer team at Wheeling Jesuit.
Manoa was the first to strike in the 26th minute of the game to put the Falcons up 1-0, but the Cardinals scored a goal of their own with less than five minutes to go in the first half to tie the game.
Things were mainly even in the first half, which ended in a 1-1 tie after both teams were able to get five shots off. The offenses had more going in the second half as the teams combined for 17 shots (nine for NDC).
Manoa again made the first goal of the second half in the 60th minute and didn't waste any time scoring her third of the game in the 61st. With less than 90 seconds in between her second and third goals, Manoa gave the Falcons enough of a cushion to leave with a victory.
"It was a great hat trick from Lex today," said head coach
Mike Shiels. "She came up big for us when we needed it."
All three of Manoa's goals came unassisted as two of them were off free kicks. All three goals were shot from at least 15 yards out.
Notre Dame will play again on Thursday, October 12 at Concord. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
