NDC to host 3rd annual "Sock It 2 Breast Cancer" campaign

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- For the third consecutive year, the Notre Dame College Athletic Department and the Falcon athletic teams will take part in the "Sock It 2 Breast Cancer" campaign.

Sock It 2 Breast Cancer is an annual fundraising event for various breast cancer foundations, and began in the Fall of 2012 when Director of Athletics Scott Swain brought the idea to NDC's campus.

"This Sock It 2 Breast Cancer series is for a wonderful cause as well as a unifying force for all of our Falcon student-athletes. Our teams have really bought into the series and supporting each other's competitions while raising monies for a great cause," said Director of Athletics Scott Swain. "We have challenged our student-athletes to remember how their lives have been touched by breast cancer in one way or another and use that for motivation as well. I lost my mother in law to this disease and I continue to support the fight for a cure with every opportunity."

With the help of coaches, student-athletes, parents and fans, Sock It 2 Breast Cancer helps shed awareness and support in conjunction with raising money for breast cancer foundations, support groups and charities.

Each athletic team chooses one event to support Sock It 2 Breast Cancer by wearing pink socks and other pink gear to symbolize their willingness to help raise money for Breast Cancer awareness, research and support.

Donations are collected at each home event, and each team chooses where they would like to donate their money, which allows them to have a special connection with a specific cause.
