Second Hall of Fame Class Announced

NDC to induct three individuals and one team in 2015

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame College Athletic Department has announced the inductees for the 2015 Hall of Fame Class.

Three Individuals, representing separate athletic programs, will be inducted at the Hall of Fame Ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Performing Arts Center. Dave Hilborn (Men's Basketball), Molly Merrill (Women's Lacrosse) and Anna Ball (Softball) are the three individuals that will be inducted, and the 2005 Men's Soccer Team will be inducted as well.

Ball, a 2009 graduate of Notre Dame College, had one of the greatest careers in the history of NAIA Softball, as she finished her career with the best batting average in NAIA history (.514). She led the Falcons in most major offensive categories, holding the career mark in homeruns (30), doubles (87), hits (280), runs scored (174), on base percentage (.579) and slugging percentage (.861). She was a three-time American Mideast Conference Player of the Year, and also earned AMC Freshman of the year honors.

Merrill, also a 2009 graduate of NDC, played an instrumental role in getting the Women's Lacrosse program off the ground. She finished her career as the program's all-time leading goal scorer, with 144. She also finished her career as the program leader in points (193), second in assists (49), fifth in draw controls (72), and 18 free position goals. She scored 41 goals in her final season, on a team that posted an incredible 11-3 mark.

Hilborn, like Merrill, played an instrumental role in starting the men's basketball program from the ground up. A 2005 graduate of Notre Dame, Hilborn played in the inaugural season, and he finished his career as the all-time leading scorer, with 1,828 career points, a mark that currently ranks third all-time. He ranks third in program history with 661 field goals made, third all-time in free throws made (322), and he shot 77.4-percent at the free throw line, which is a top-10 mark in program history as well.

The 2005 Men's Soccer Team became the first team in the history of Notre Dame College Athletics to secure a spot in a National Tournament of any kind. Head Coach Michael "Mac" McBride was named the AMC North Division Coach of the Year, and Nick Jordan was named AMC North Division Player of the Year. The Falcons won their first round matchup, 2-1, over Simon Fraser University, and made it all the way to the Elite Eight. They finished the season as the No. 18 ranked team in the country. The team was also selected as the recipient of the Nels Dahlquist Memorial Team Sportsmanship Award – an honor selected by the Tournament Games Committee and referees based on sportsmanship, character and integrity.

"We are delighted to announce the second Hall of Fame class in the history of Notre Dame College Athletics," said Athletic Director Scott Swain. "These three individuals and this team, accomplished a great deal in their time on campus, and we look forward to celebrating this evening with them and their families."

The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, Feb. 7, following a men's and women's basketball double header at Murphy Gymnasium. A pre-ceremony reception will begin at 6 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, and the ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets to the event are $30 per person.
