Tough finish in Tiffin

Last minute goal pushes Dragons past Falcons

Box Score
TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons suffered a tough loss on Friday evening, as the Tiffin Dragons scored with 18 seconds remaining to edge the Falcons, 16-15.

The loss for Notre Dame (6-3, 2-2 GLIAC) was their first on the road since March 14, while the victory for the Dragons (6-6, 4-0) extended their winning streak to five.

Early on, it appeared as though NDC was poised to win their first conference road tilt, as they received goals from both Katherine Doraty and Kristen Hull less than two minutes into the contest to take an early two goal advantage.

The fun didn't stop there for the Falcons, as they added two more goals before the Dragons could get on the board.  Doraty found the back of the net again at the 25:03-mark, and Shannan Edwards scored 53 seconds later, giving the Falcons a 4-0 lead.

It didn't take long for the Dragons to begin breathing fire.  Emily Roussel kick started a 6-0 run over the next 12 minutes of the contest, by scoring three consecutive goals, and the Dragons found themselves ahead, 6-4, with 12 and a half minutes left in the half after Katelyn Hill's goal.

The rest of the half was tightly contested, and NDC ended the opening stanza with a pair of goals from Edwards inside the four minute mark, to close the halftime deficit to 8-7.

Hull tied the game a minute and 12 seconds into the second half on her second of four goals on the night, but Tiffin regained the lead about a minute and a half later.  The two teams traded goals the rest of the half.  Hull eventually tied the game again with 5:54 remaining on a free position shot, but it was Hill's goal with 18-seconds to go that sealed the deal for the Dragons.

The Falcon trio of Hull, Doraty and Edwards paced NDC offensively as they all scored four times.  Hull was a perfect 2-for-2 on free position shots, while Edwards added an assist.

The Falcons are in action again on Friday, April 19, as they head to Wheeling Jesuit (W.Va.) for a showdown with the Cardinals.  The contest is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
