Six players score three or more as Falcons set new single-game scoring mark

LYNDHURST, Ohio -- Notre Dame evened its season record at 4-4 on Saturday, with a lopsided 23-1 victory over Mount St. Joseph. (Box)

Six Falcons players notched hat tricks in the game, as Notre Dame (4-4) tallied a program-record 23 goals in the game. Freshman #Jill Dixon# led the high-powered Falcon attack; she scored four goals and had an assist in the game.

With the victory over Mount St. Joseph (1-5), NDC has now won two straight games. Saturday's game was the second of six straight at home for the Falcons; NDC is thus far 2-0 in that stretch.

Dixon scored half of NDC's first six goals, which they scored in a 6-0 barrage in the first 10 minutes of play. The Falcons led, 7-0, before Rachel Steele snuck a shot past starting netminder #Marissa Lundgren#. Lundgren and #Rachel Tarasco# split time in the Falcon net and combined to make three saves in what was an uneventful game for the NDC defensive corps.

After the Lions' lone goal, scored at 14:49 of the first, the Falcons closed out the half with six more goals to pull ahead, 13-1, by the break.

The Blue & White added 10 unanswered scores in the second half to break their previous record of 22 goals in a game, set on April 10, 2007, at Slippery Rock (Pa.).

In addition to Dixon, #Amy Albanese#, #Katie Christensen#, #Jen Hrobuchak#, #Mickayla Meola# and #Jenn Morse# also garnered hat tricks in the game, with each scoring three goals. Hrobuchak added a game-high two assists.

For the game, NDC outshot CMSJ, 45-7. The Falcons put 34 of their 45 shots on goal.

Notre Dame will look to run its record over .500 in their next game, which is slated for Tuesday, March 30, at 7 p.m., when the Falcons welcome the Valkyries of Converse College (S.C.) to Korb Field. That game will mark the third of what is a string of six straight games at home for the Blue & White.
