Jason Fox was named head coach of the Notre Dame College men's rugby program in 2015. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at NDC for three seasons. The title of Director of Rugby Operations was added in 2021.
On Dec. 4, 2016, the Falcons defeated Bowling Green State University, 39-17, in Greenville, S.C. taking the DIAA Fall Championship. They became the DIAA National Champions on May 6, 2017, when they beat the University of California Davis, 40-20, in Marietta, Ga.
In January of 2017, Fox was named 2016 Competitive Coach of the Year by USA Rugby.
Fox was honored to coach the U.S. Atlantis 7’s team from 1997 – 2000 in Fiji and Venezuela, the U.S. Eagles 7’s team in 1998 in Uruguay and Argentina, and St. Edward High School, his alma mater, from 1999 – 2009, earning eight league championships, five state runner-up titles, and 8th in the nation in 2006.
He was the co-founder of Northeast Ohio High School Rugby League in 1999, founder of Northeast Ohio Rugby for 5th – 8th grade boys & girls (2006 -- 2010), founder of the Northern Ohio Rugby Academy (2006 – 2010) and coach/selector of the All Ohio High School Select Side Midwest & East Coast Championships (2006 – 2009).
Fox has been a licensed rugby referee since 2009 for high school, college and club rugby 15’s and 7’s and has helped the Northeast Ohio High School Rugby League start several boy’s and girl’s high school rugby programs (2008 – current).
Dedicated to grow the sport of rugby in the United States, Fox has been promoting rugby in area grade schools during physical education classes since 2007.
Native to Cleveland, Ohio, Fox began playing rugby at the University of Houston in 1985. He went on to play for the All Texas U19 team in 1986, the Cleveland Rovers Rugby Club from 1986 – 2003, the U.S. Eagles 7’s camp from 1989 – 1991, the All Ohio Select Side 15’s from 1988 – 2000 and the Midwest Select Side 7’s from 1988 – 2000.
From 1995 – 2001, Fox played for the U.S. Atlantis 7’s team competing for the United States in numerous countries all over the world. He has also represented Cleveland, Ohio and the United States competing in four World Police and Fire Games in rugby 7’s from 1997- present earning one gold medal, two silver, and one bronze.
Jason currently resides in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Cindy, and their two children, Nicolas and Jessica.
