Imani Gordon

Imani Gordon was named head coach of the program on April 28, 2021. She will be entering her second season in the role.

Gordon joined the Notre Dame College women's basketball coaching staff prior to the 2017-18 season as an assistant coach.

The Falcons went 15-14 (13-9 MEC) and earned a spot in the Mountain East Conference tournament in Gordon's first season as head coach. In a slight upset, NDC was the five seed in the conference bracket and took down four seed Concord, 69-59, in the quarterfinals. Tamia Ridley earned All-MEC Second Team honors after a tremendous season, in which she broke the program's season record in rebounds (337) and defensive rebounds (226). Alana Ellis was also named All-MEC Honorable Mention as a redshirt freshman. After struggling with injuries and playing just nine regular season games, All-American Jada Marone averaged 24.5 points in the tournament and was named to the All-Tournament Team. After the season, Gordon earned Thirty Under 30 status from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for the third consecutive year.

In her four years on the NDC bench as an assistant, Gordon helped the Falcons post a record of 78-32, along with a 60-22 mark in MEC play.

In a shortened 2020-21 season, the Falcons went 14-4 (13-3 MEC) and reached the MEC Tournament Semifinals for the third time in the past four years. For the first time, the MEC split the conference into two divisions and Notre Dame finished the regular season as the top team in the North Division. The Falcons held teams to 63.7 points per game, which put them at the top of the MEC in that category. Opponents grabbed just 39.2 rebounds per game against the Falcons, which was third fewest in the conference. After the campaign, Gordon was named to the WBCA's Thirty Under 30 list, as one of the top college coaches under the age of 30, for the second consecutive season.

The 2019-20 season was also very successful, with NDC breaking more program records by winning 26 games, with 18 MEC wins and 12 road wins. The Falcons went all the way to the championship game in the MEC Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in program history. The Falcons defense ranked second in the MEC allowing just 70.4 points per game and third in field goal percentage defense at 40.8-percent. NDC also was second in the conference with 111 total blocks. Following the 2019-20 season, Gordon was listed on WBCA's Thirty Under 30 list.

In 2018-19, the Falcons played extremely well off the glass. Notre Dame was first in the MEC in defensive rebound percentage, coming down with the ball on 70.6 percent of missed shots. NDC ranked second in rebounding defense and fifth in rebounding offense. Notre Dame was one of five programs in the league with a positive rebounding margin. The Falcon forwards played well defensively under Gordon's guidance as the team was fourth in the MEC in blocked shots.

In her first season with the program, Notre Dame broke several records. The 2017-18 season marked the first 20-win regular season as the Falcons broke the program record with 23 wins, which included two in the MEC Tournament. NDC made an appearance in the conference championship that season. The Falcons made their presence felt throughout the season as they ranked third in scoring offense and second in scoring margin as one of two teams whose score differential was over 4.5 points per game. Notre Dame made over 43 percent of its shots in the 2017-18 season, ranking second in the league. The season was full of highlights as the Falcons ranked second in both steals and three-point field goal percentage.

As an assistant coach at NDC, Gordon coached the forwards, and led her unit to a great deal of success in four seasons. A standout in her first season, Gordon coached Kim Cook to First Team All-MEC honors and to a spot on the MEC All-Tournament Team. Following the 2019-20 campaign, Jessie Stout earned her first All-MEC Honorable Mention Award.

Prior to her time at Notre Dame, Gordon spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Cleveland State University, where she was a standout student-athlete. Gordon gained a tremendous amount of experience at CSU assisting in the planning and execution of practices and coordinating all recruiting needs of the program.

As a player, Gordon ranks in CSU's top 10 in scoring, rebounding and free throw attempts. She was the team's MVP twice and was part of the winningest senior class in program history. Leading the team to its first WNIT Tournament berth, Gordon was named First Team All-Conference twice and Second Team All-Conference once.

Gordon earned two degrees from Cleveland State, including a Master of Education, Sports Management (2017) and a Bachelor of Science, Psychology/Criminology (2015).
