Steve Gambone

Gambone joined the Notre Dame coaching staff in the fall of 2015. He came to Notre Dame with over 15 years of softball coaching experience with High School and travel teams, having coached many student-athletes during that stretch that went on to play at many levels of college.

Prior to joining the Falcons, Gambone spent his previous 10 summers (2005-15) as the Head Coach of the Ohio Lasers Organization. He orchestrated a decade of dominance as the Head Coach. They won the 2007 Pony 10U National Championship, the 2011 ASA/USA Class A 14U National Championships, the 2014 Colorado Sparkler Championship, and the 2015 Colorado Fireworks Championship. As the head coach, he was responsible for budgeting the entire organization, scheduling tournaments and practices, traveling arrangements and putting together practice plans.

Gambone still serves as a hitting instructor at the Diamond Dreams Sports Academy in Massillon, Ohio, where he conducts hitting lessons for kids ages 6-21.

He also coached at Canton Central Catholic High School. During his tenure at Canton Catholic Central, the team set several offensive school records including hits, runs scored, RBIs and homeruns. In addition, they won their first ever District Championship.

Gambone resides in Canton, Ohio, with his wife Sally. They have two daughters, Lauren and Caitlin, and they both play softball at the Division-I level.Â
