Ann Ciavarella was named head coach of the men's and women's golf programs at Notre Dame College in December of 2017.
In her first semester with the Falcons, Ciavarella led the women's team to two victories at the Ursuline Invitational and the MEC Spring Classic. Three student-athletes were also named All-MEC in her first season with Alexandra Cardi bringing home MEC Freshman of the Year honors.
With the 2018-19 season as Ciavarella's first full year with Notre Dame, the coach made an immediate impact. The women's team earned four top-three finishes at events throughout the year and won the MEC Spring Event. Four players earned All-MEC honors, as Macie Hysell and Armani Shepherd highlighted the year-end awards as the MEC Player of the Year and MEC Freshman of the Year, respectively. Hysell is the first player in NDC golf history to earn conference player of the year honors. Under Ciavarella's guidance, Hysell won three events throughout the season, including medalist honors at the MEC Championships.
Ciavarella joined the NDC staff from Youngstown State, where she was the assistant coach for the past 4 seasons. During her time at YSU, she helped the team to a 2015 Horizon League Championship and led the team to their first ever Division I Regional Tournament.
Before becoming a coach, Ciavarella was a student-athlete at Youngstown State. She was a four year letter winner and helped the team to victory in the 2009 Horizon League Championship. At YSU, she was a member of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee).
Ciavarella is an LPGA Class A Professional and a PGA apprentice. She works on the staff at the Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna and was previously a three-year professional at Candywood Golf Club.
As a Kent, Ohio native, she attended Walsh Jesuit High School and participated in 3 State Championships, winning the 2004 State Title.
Ciavarella currently lives in Warren, Ohio with her family, Fiancee Brian Haynam and daughter (cat) Ruby “Kooks” Ciavarella. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
