Matt Ulrich

Coach Ulrich re-joined the NDC coaching staff in the summer of 2016 for his second go-around with the Falcons. He originally joined NDC in the summer of 2013 to coach strong safeties, and serve as the Strength and Conditioning coach.

In his first two seasons, the Falcons have recorded 139 tackles for a loss and 55 sacks. Defensive Lineman, Claudy Mathieu set the program records for tackles for a loss (43.5), sacks (26) and forced fumbles (five) under Ulrich's guidance.

During the 2016 campaign, NDC ranked third in the MEC in rushing defense while allowing opponents just 3.4 yards per carry.

Defensive lineman have been named to all-conference teams four times since Ulrich's arrival in 2016.

A native of Rushford, Minn., Ulrich spent one year coaching at his alma mater, Winona State, before heading to Notre Dame.

Ulrich was the defensive line coach for one year at Winona State.  They went 10-2, and captured a Mineral Water Bowl victory.  He also coached Lewis Johnson, who was an All Conference performer.

Coach Ulrich played at Winona State from 2007-11.  He was an All-American, an NSIC Defensive Player of the Year and a team captain.  He was also invited to the Minnesota Vikings 2012 rookie camp.

Coach Ulrich resides in South Euclid, Ohio.
