Caleb Padilla was hired as the Falcons defensive coordinator in January, 2013.

Padilla joins the Falcons from Albion College (Mich.), where he served as a defensive backs coach in 2010 and defensive coordinator and safeties coach in 2011 and 2012.

In 2012 Padilla's Albion Briton defense ranked 30th in the nation (out of 241 NCAA-DIII programs) in scoring defense, at 17.6 points per game allowed.  Albion held foes to just 281.2 yards per contest, an average that ranked 19th in NCAA DIII football.

In 2011 Padilla's unit helped Albion win the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title in 2011 by leading the league in rushing defense (allowing 90 fewer yards a game than it did the previous season).

In his time at Albion Padilla coached three Briton defenders that earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year awards -- cornerback Chris Greenwood in 2010 (drafted in 5th round of NFL Draft) and 2011 and defensive lineman C.J. Carroll in 2012.

Padilla began his college coaching career at NCAA DII Colorado School of Mines, as the linebackers coach. Two defensive starters achieved all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection in 2009. In his two seasons with the Orediggers the team posted back-to-back eight-win seasons and a postseason appearance in 2008.

Prior to his arrival at Mines, Padilla spent two seasons as the varsity defensive backs coach and junior varsity defensive coordinator at Rangeview High School in Aurora. During his time at Rangeview, Padilla coached a pair of unanimous First Team All-Continental League safeties.

Padilla played college football at Winona State University from 2001-05 and helped guide the Warriors to four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships. Winona State qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs three times and went undefeated at home in conference play during all five seasons of Padilla's collegiate playing career. In 2003, Padilla helped guide the Warriors to their first-ever playoff victory.

In his first year with the Falcons (2013) the NDC defense surrendered 14 fewer points per game than the previous season, which was the third best turnaround in NCAA-II. Three of the defenders on that unit earned All Mountain East Conference honors.
