Adam Schrack joined Notre Dame College as the Running Backs Coach prior to the 2017 season, and was promoted to Special Teams Coordinator before the 2020 season. He came to NDC after spending time with the University of Michigan and USA Football.
Schrack led his running back's core to continued success in 2019 as the Falcons ranked in the top 10 in Division II rushing (eighth with 3,352 rushing yards) for the second-straight season. NDC boasted two 500-yard rushers, including Jaleel McLaughlin, who led the nation with 2,316 yards (ranked sixth-most in a single season at the DII level). Notre Dame ranked sixth in the country with 42 rushing touchdowns, 30 of which were scored by McLaughlin who ended the season with 180 points scored (ranking in the top 20 in NCAA DII history). McLaughlin was named National Offensive Player of the Year by D2football.com, and was once again a Harlon Hill Award finalist for top player at the DII level, finishing second in voting.
The 2018 season was the most successful in Notre Dame history, and Shrack's running backs were key to the team's run to the NCAA DII Semifinals. The Falcons run game ranked sixth in the NCAA DII with 3,704 yards on the ground. Standout Jaleel McLaughlin had a record year as a freshman in 2018 as he broke multiple NCAA DII records including Most Rushing Yards Gained by a Freshman (2,421). That mark of 2,421 is fourth most all time in NCAA DII single-season history. McLaughlin was named a Harlon Hill Award finalist for best DII player and finished third in the voting.
In his first season guiding the running backs at NDC, the Falcons led the Mountain East Conference with 2,558 rushing yards. Notre Dame averaged over 230 yards per game in 2017 while two different running backs ran for over 500 yards. The Falcons backfield averaged 5.63 yards per carry on 306 attempts on their way to 15 touchdowns.
Schrack has coached three running backs to all-conference honors in his first three seasons. In 2018, McLaughlin was named MEC Offensive Freshman of the Year and MEC Offensive Freshman of the Year to become the first player to earn both honors in the same season; he was also named Offensive Player of the Year in Super Region 1 and earned All-American honors from four separate outlets. In 2019, McLaughlin was once again named MEC Offensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-American honors from four outlets.
During his time with Michigan, Schrack served as the Recruiting Operations Coordinator and Assistant to the Tight Ends Coach. There, he designed recruiting meetings, evaluated prospective student-athletes and worked hand-in-hand with the tight ends' coach.
Schrack also coached wide receivers with USA Football during the National Development Games where he taught athletes new schemes and techniques. Prior to that, he coached at two Ohio high schools on both sides of the ball at Archbishop Hoban High School and Mogadore High School.
Beginning his coaching career as a Running Backs Undergraduate Assistant at Kent State University, Schrack graduated with a Bachelor of Science: Education degree in 2015.
Schrack is also a part of the Harbaugh family. His grandfather, Jerry, and Jack Harbaugh are brothers.
