Imrie's career-high propels NDC into MEC Tournament with road win

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – On the final day of the regular season, with a berth into the Mountain East Conference Tournament on the line, junior Lizzie Imrie and the Notre Dame College women's basketball team (7-21, 6-16 MEC) dismantled Alderson Broaddus University (5-22, 4-18 MEC) on the road, 74-66. Imrie tallied a game-high and career-high 20 points in the ticket-punching victory.
 
Senior Marina Adachi kicked the game off with a three-pointer 14 seconds into the contest, as a slow paced first quarter would end 15-11 Notre Dame.
 
In the second quarter, freshman Noel Weathers scored on back-to-back possessions for NDC, giving the Falcons a narrow 19-18 advantage with 5:48 to play. Another low scoring frame, led to a 26-24 Falcon lead at the half.
 
Notre Dame jumped out of the half with a 10-2 run, moving ahead by double-digits (36-26) with 7:03 to play in the quarter. However, AB responded with a quick 7-0 run, cutting the Falcon lead to three (36-33) with 4:31 left in the third. NDC would carry a 44-40 edge into the final quarter of play.
 
Once again, Notre Dame moved in front by double figures with a 12-6 run to begin the fourth (56-46). The Battlers would work the score back to a four-point NDC lead (62-58) with 3:09 left in the game. The Falcons iced the game in the end, scoring on their final four possessions to ensure a berth into the MEC Tournament with a 74-66 win on the road.
 
As aforementioned, Imrie showed up in a major way for Notre Dame, scoring a game-high and career-high 20 points. In addition, Weathers (17) and Adachi (12) also scored in double-figures for the Falcons.
 
On the glass, Weathers secured a game-high seven rebounds, followed by Imrie, Lilee Carlson and Peyton Wells with four apiece.
 
Defensively, Adachi swiped three steals, followed by Weathers and Carlson with two each.
 
As a team, Notre Dame shot 23-57 (40.4%) from the field, 8-20 (40.0%) from three and 20-25 (80.0%) from the free throw line.
 
The Notre Dame College women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday Mar. 1 with a time an opponent to be determined. NDC extends their streak of competing in the MEC Tournament every season since joining the conference prior to the 2013-14 season.
