ERIE, Pa. – Day two of the Conference Challenge featured the Notre Dame College women's basketball team (1-1) up against the host school in Gannon University (4-1). The Falcons fell to the Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon, 108-56.
Gannon began the contest on an 18-2 run, to claim the first quarter 26-7. Despite a buzzer beating three-pointer by
Mallory Hullinger to close out the half, NDC trailed GU 62-28 at the break.
In the third quarter,
Noel Weathers scored eight of her 11 points, however the Falcons surrendered the frame 24-15 (86-43).
Notre Dame continued to fight, including knocking down trio of three-point shots in the fourth quarter by
Kennadi Harris and
Nadia Jackson. However, Gannon took the quarter and the contest, 108-56.
Harris paced the Falcons offensively with a team-high 12 points on 4-6 shooting from the floor, including 3-4 from long-range. Weathers added 11 points and team-high five rebounds on the day.
Lilee Carlson,
Rachel Richardson and
Cencere McDaniel all chipped in six points apiece.
As a team, Notre Dame shot 18-54 (33.3%) from the floor, 5-15 (33.3%) from three and 15-27 (55.6%) from the charity stripe, to go along with 24 rebounds and six assists.
The Notre Dame College women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. as the Falcons host Ursuline College for the home opener inside Murphy Gymnasium.
