WHEELING, W.Va. – The Notre Dame College women's soccer team (10-4-3, 9-4-1 MEC) notched their 10
th win on the year, including the ninth win inside the Mountain East Conference, notching their most wins in a season since 2019, including their most wins in the MEC since 2018 following a 4-1 victory over Wheeling (5-10-2, 2-9-2 MEC). Senior
Jordan Pasalaqua set the Notre Dame College program record with the 341
st save of her career, while junior
Miriam Szijarto scored for the 17
th time this season, the most by an NDC Falcon since 1996.
The match started back-and-forth as both sides registered a few shots on goal, Pasalaqua per usual was there for the saves, including tallying the program record breaking save during the 26
th minute.
Pasalaqua's play enabled Notre Dame to grab the lead in the 41
st minute when
Ashley Rainho assisted
Mia Maruna for her fourth score on the season (1-0).
The Cardinals responded less than two minutes later in the 43
rd minute as Mary DiFonzo knotted the contest at 1-1 before the break.
Following halftime, the two sides battled to open up the second stanza until NDC broke through to put the contest away in the final 10 minutes. First,

nd minute (2-1), marking Follert's third goal on the year.
Next, Szijarto entered the scoresheet in the 84
th minute (3-1), as Rainho assisted for the second time this afternoon, notching a career-high with NDC and tied for the second-most assists in a match in NDC program history.
The Falcons added the cherry on top in the 90
th minute of play, as Szijarto carved her way through the Cardinal defense, before burying her second goal of the match, including sixth multi-goal game of the season. The Ravenna, Ohio native notched her team-leading and MEC-leading 17
th goal of the year, a top-five mark in NCAA Division II. The Archbishop Hoban High School product has now scored the second-most goals in a single season in NDC program history, including the most since Barbie Chester totaled 18 in 1996. Moreover, Szijarto has amassed 37 points on the season, the most in the MEC by eight, and the third-most by an NDC Falcon in program history (most since Melissa Marini's 38 in 1996).
Pasalaqua's team-high four saves made the Madison, Ohio native the NDC career leader in saves with 341, surpassing Kristy Kolschetzky (339) from 2010-13. In addition, the Madison High School product registered the 79
th game during her illustrious career, now tied with Alexis Manoa and Riley Doyle from 2014-17 for the most matches played in program history. Moreover, Pasalaqua is already the NDC career leader in wins (37) and minutes played (7,064). Lastly, the senior is currently fifth in single season history with a career-high 84 saves this season.
Notre Dame tallied double-digit shots in each half as NDC outshot Wheeling 25 (10) to 8 (5) with Szijarto and Follert led the way with seven and six shots, respectively.
The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. against Salem University on Mueller Field.
