SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The top two teams in the Mountain East Conference North Division battled on Mueller Field on Wednesday afternoon, as the Notre Dame College women's soccer team (7-4-3, 6-4-1 MEC) fell to Frostburg State University (12-1-1, 9-1-1 MEC), 1-0.
NDC featured a pair of early opportunities with shots by
Miriam Szijarto and
Anaya Edwards in the first and sixth minutes.
Frostburg State posted equal opportunities during the early stages of the match, as a team-save was required by the Falcons during the fifth minute. Following a pair of
Jordan Pasalaqua saves, Frostburg State found the back of the net in the 23
rd minute with Madison Allen gifting the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
FSU continued to pile opportunities throughout the match, before going on to win 1-0. Pasalaqua grabbed a game-high eight saves despite the defeat, moving 13 saves away from tying Kristy Kolschetzky for the most saves in a career in NDC program history (339).
Szijarto paced NDC with a pair of shots, as the Falcons were outshot by the Bobcats 23 to five, including nine to zero in shots on goal.
The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will be back in action on Sunday Oct. 22 at noon for Senior Day against West Liberty University.
