Moreover, MU threatened during the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. The Pioneers scored a run during the sixth and seventh innings to pull the contest within one run, 7-6. During the eighth inning, Malone loaded the bases but Falcon hurler

Before Notre Dame took the field in the last frame, Zeuli poked a two-run double to left field scoring Espineli and Ross on the play and adding a pair of insurance runs for the Falcons (9-6).
In the bottom of the ninth inning, A. Miller sent the Pioneers down in order, grabbing a pair of strikeouts to earn his team leading seventh save of the season. The redshirt sophomore is now tied for the Notre Dame single season record for saves with Todd Marshall (2019) and Ryan Rico (2006).
