Parr posts another career night, but Falcons fall on the road to West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – A hot shooting and high scoring night sees Notre Dame College (13-13, 12-9 MEC) fall 112-78 to West Liberty University (18-9, 14-7 MEC) on Wednesday evening. Both sides enjoyed efficient nights from the floor as NDC shot 31-65 (47.7%) and 5-12 (41.7%) from three, while WLU converted 38-69 (55.1%) from the field and 22-41 (53.7%) from deep. Senior Theresa Parr netted a career-high 16 points for the Falcons.

The game began at a frantic pace with shots falling from all over the court on both ends. The score was knotted at 8-8 with 7:10 remaining in the quarter after a Marina Adachi layup. The Hilltoppers would then open a quick 6-0 run to grab a 14-8 lead, their largest of the quarter. The Falcons continued to keep pace with WLU by tying the game again, this time at 18-18 with 2:55 left in the period. Both teams would exchange baskets for the remainder of the period, ending with a 27-25 West Liberty advantage.

After shooting a blazing 11-13 (84.6%) from the floor in the first quarter, NDC struggled to score in the second, shooting 5-19 (26.3%). West Liberty claimed the period 30-13, and led 57-38 at the break.

In the third quarter, the Falcons shooting emerged once more, going 8-14 (57.1%) from the field and 3-4 (75%) from three-point land. However, the Hilltoppers efficient night continued as they netted 13-23 (56.5%) from the floor and 7-11 (63.6%) from three.

West Liberty won the fourth quarter 20-17, claiming the contest 112-78.

Notre Dame was led on offense by Parr's team-high and career-high 16 points. Four other Falcons scored in double figures including Lilee Carlson (14), Marina Adachi (13), Alana Ellis (13) and Jada Marone (11). Adachi was a perfect 3-3 from three and Marone scored 2-4 from deep.

Tamia Ridley corralled a team-high five rebounds, moving her to 298 career rebounds. She stands five rebounds shy of breaking All-American Joni DePiore's historic 25-year-old (1996-97) single season rebounding record when she brought down 302 boards.

Ridley will have the opportunity to set the new Notre Dame program record when the Falcons round out their regular season on Saturday Feb. 26 at 2:00 p.m. against Alderson Broaddus University.
