FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Squaring up against Fairmont State University (11-3-4, 10-3-3 MEC) for the second straight postseason, the Notre Dame College women's soccer team (7-8-4, 6-6-4 MEC) fell 1-0 on a low-scoring Tuesday evening.
In the first half, senior
Jordan Pasalaqua recorded three saves to hold the score at 0-0 into the break. NDC posted just one shot in the frame during the 20
th minute, when sophomore
Louisa Follert sent a ball out high.
Junior
Kalie Blaising tallied the Falcons only shot on goal, during the 58
th minute as FSU outshot NDC 16-2 in the contest.
Fairmont State netted the game-winning goal in the 84
th minute by Kiera Kuzinski, who leads the MEC in goals scored this season.
Pasalaqua paced the match with a game-high five saves.
Despite the loss, the Falcons put together a successful 2022 campaign under 20
th year head coach
Mike Shiels. NDC generated a three-match unbeaten streak at the end of the season to make the MEC Tournament for the 10
th year in a row, including every year since joining the Mountain East Conference. In addition, Notre Dame College boasted three All-MEC awarded winners in freshman
Hannah Smith and seniors
Madison Luckett and
Jordan Pasalaqua.
The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will close the book on their 2022 campaign, as the Falcons will be back in action come August of 2023.
