GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Netting their most goals since 2018, several NDC Falcons scored for the first time this season as Notre Dame College (6-7-3, 5-6-3 MEC) dominated Glenville State University (0-16, 0-14 MEC), 7-0 on Sunday afternoon. In addition, NDC's seven goals scored are tied for the third-most in a match in program history.
The Falcons controlled the tempo from the start as junior
Madison Marino got the scoring started in the sixth minute with her team leading sixth goal of the year (1-0). 10 minutes later, sophomore
Louisa Follert netted the first goal of her season after an assist by freshman
Emma Buda (2-0).
Senior
Jordan Pasalaqua recorded both of her saves in the 24
th and 28
th minutes to keep the Pioneers off the scoreboard. The Madison High School Product now has 24 clean sheets in her NDC career, including her MEC leading seventh this season.
A few moments later, junior
Kalie Blaising (3) added another goal to make the score 3-0 Notre Dame in the 32
nd minute.
Freshman
Maridza Desir joined in on the fun in the 38
th minute with her fifth goal of the campaign (4-0).
In the 42
nd minute, junior
Daniella Barbetta found the back of the net off after a ricochet, marking her first goal as an NDC Falcon.
After scoring five first half goals, the Falcons were not done as Follert weaved through the GSU defense en route to her second goal of the match in the 49
th minute (6-0). This marks the Dortmund, Germany native's third career multi-goal effort.
Concluding the offensive outpour was sophomore
Aria Evans-Roskos in the 72
nd minute. She scored her first career goal on a rocket from outside the box, just over the outstretched arm of the Pioneer keeper (7-0).
Notre Dame generated their seven goals on 15 shots, including 13 on target, to go with two saves and one corner kick. This marks the most goals scored in a half (5) and match (7) since NDC took down Glenville State on the road 9-0 (including five in the first half) back on Oct. 10, 2018.
Blaising and Follert paced the Falcons on offense by tallying four shots and three on goal apiece.
The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday Oct. 26 when the Falcons travel to Concord for a 1 p.m. start.
