Women's soccer fights to scoreless draw at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, MD – The Notre Dame College women's soccer team took Frostburg State to double overtime in a defense bout that featured several opportunities. The score ended at 0-0 after 110 minutes, moving NDC to 1-2-2 (1-1-2 MEC), while Frostburg State moves to 4-2-1 (3-1-1 MEC).
 
In the first half, Jordan Pasalaqua was called upon early with a second minute save down and to her left. The second save came from Pasalaqua again in the 30th minute. Notre Dame would register their first shot when Lousia Follert struck a ball low but it was saved by FSU's Ashley Bilger.
 
In the second half, Isabel Sentle tallied the second of three shots on goal for the Falcons with a 71st minute shot high but it was sent away by Bilger. Follert registered the final shot on goal for NDC a few minutes later in the 75th, her second of the game. Pasalaqua stood her ground till the very end by grabbing two more saves after the 80th minute to hold the Bobcats at zero.
 
In overtime, FSU's Caroline Burton hit the left post almost putting the game on ice for Frostburg State in the 93rd minute. A Sammy Salatino 98th minute shot that went high was the final shot of the game for the Falcons. Lastly, Pasalaqua was called upon once more, when early in the second overtime in the 101st minute with a save to ensure a scoreless draw.
 
In total, Notre Dame shot the ball 11 times with three on goal, and two corner kicks. Frostburg State counters with 14 shots and five on goal, with ten corner kicks. NDC's Pasalaqua had five saves, while FSU's Bilger totaled three. Salatino led NDC with three shots, followed by Katie Blaising (2), Follert (2), and Madison Marino, Sentle, Hannah Smith and Jordi Markovic all adding one apiece. Follert and Sentle posted the only shots on target for the Falcons with two from Follert and one from Sentle.
 
Notre Dame College women's soccer will be back in action at home on Wednesday Sept. 29th at 4 p.m. on Mueller Field when they host Alderson Broaddus.
