TIFFIN, Ohio – Notre Dame College traveled to Tiffin University for a non-conference double-header, on Wednesday. The Falcons dropped game one by a score of 8-0 in five innings and in the second game, NDC tied the contest at two in the third inning, but Tiffin would grab the lead and win, 5-3.
In game one, Notre Dame threatened early with runners on first and second base, following back-to-back singles in the first inning.
NDC was unable to score in the top half of the first and Tiffin put three runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame. The Dragons would score eight runs on 12 hits in the game.
In the second game of the day, Tiffin struck first and scored two runs in the second inning. NDC responded in the top of the third. Junior
Lexi Rehm singled to load the bases and senior
McKenzie Zigmont knocked in two runs with a base hit, tying the game.
In the bottom of the third, TU scored a pair of runs and jumped back on top by a score of 4-2.
Trailing 5-2 in the sixth inning, Notre Dame's
Emily Marsh doubled with two outs. Senior
Brenna Lorek pinch ran for her and advanced to third and then scored on two passed balls.
Zigmont had three hits for the Falcons' offense throughout the double-header. Marsh's double in game two was her first of the season.
Notre Dame will play their final road games of the regular season on April 30, when they take on Wheeling University. The first game of the double-header starts at 1 p.m.
