GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Notre Dame College women's basketball team (3-4, 2-1 MEC) traveled down to No. 9 Glenville State College (6-0, 2-0 MEC) on Wednesday evening in a battle of MEC unbeatens. After a close first quarter, GSC broke the game open, winning 116-51.
In the first quarter,
Jen Oduho opened the scoring with a layup, but GSC would respond with a 20-5 run and a 20-7 lead with 4:37 left. Notre Dame would close out the quarter on a 7-1 run but the Pioneers would lead 24-17 after one.
In the second quarter, the two sides would begin by exchanging baskets until the seven-minute mark when Glenville State began to take over. The Pioneers would conclude the half on a 28-8 run, and lead 57-31 at the break.
In the third quarter, GSC dominated 31-7, extending their lead to 88-38 with ten minutes to play. The Pioneers would close out the game, by taking the fourth quarter 28-13.
It was a tough game for Notre Dame as Glenville State played with ferocious defensive intensity that led NDC to 15-53 from the field (28.3%), 2-12 from three (16.7%) and 24 turnovers.
Notre Dame was led on offense by
Alana Ellis and
Lilee Carlson who each totaled ten points in the contest.
Tamia Ridley put forth a strong effort and grabbed eight rebounds but the Falcons were outrebounded during the game, 57-30.
Notre Dame College will be back in action on Saturday Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. when the Falcons host Concord University inside Murphy Gymnasium.
