Baseball Walks It Off In Second Straight Game

AVON, Ohio - The Notre Dame College Falcons baseball program with their second-straight walk-off in a row against G-MAC opponents.

With the win, the Falcons improve to a 3-8 overall record, while Findlay falls to an overall record of 5-7 to begin the 2020 season.

Findlay's offense was the first to strike, and scored two runs in the top of the second inning.

Notre Dame moved runners into scoring position in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, but were not able to score until the sixth inning. Ben Ross led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk, and was scored by Drake May after being moved to third base on a sac bunt, followed by a ground-out. Going into the top of the seventh, the Oilers held a one-run lead.

The Falcon defense successfully completed two innings in which they held the Oilers to zero runs, and came back in the bottom of the eighth with another run.. Ben Ross scored for the second time after reaching base on a single. He then reached third base on a failed pick-off attempt. Nick Farell then walked, putting runners on first and third base. Joe Paskell hit Ross in to tie the game with a 2-2 score, and the Falcons set themselves up for their first extra-inning game of the season.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, Luke Thompson beat out a throw from the shortstop, diving to reach base safely, and then went first-to-third on a single hit by Ben Ross. With runners on first and third base, the Oilers intentionally walked Nick Farrell, loading the bases. Parker Hray, who came into the game as a pinch runner, took four straight balls, and walked Thompson in for the second-straight walk-off victory of the 2020 season.

The Falcons will hit the road to begin MEC season on a two-game win-streak, as the team is scheduled to play West Virginia State University this weekend in a double-header.
