Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

NDC suffers first loss of the season

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Notre Dame College women's basketball team lost its first game of the 2019-20 season against Glenville State on Wednesday evening. The Pioneers won 93-73 to improve to 4-3 (2-1 MEC) while NDC falls to 6-1 (2-1 MEC).

Glenville State opened up with a strong first quarter, scoring 28 points to the Falcons' 16. But Notre Dame recovered in the second and third quarter, to keep things close.

NDC won the third quarter 20-19 as they started to figure things out, but was unable to fully make the comeback.

"We started playing as a team and were able to remind each other that we're in it together," head coach Lauren Macer said on her team's ability to recover after the first quarter. "In order to be successful in this game, we just had to take it one possession at a time to try and close that gap. It's something that we will take with us in the season moving forward."

Notre Dame was led on the offensive end by its starting forwards Jessie Stout and Jen Oduho, who each scored 12 points. Stout made her first six shots of the game before missing on at the end of the fourth quarter. The senior forward from Stow, Ohio was also able to record three assists and two steals along with four rebounds.

"It was nice to see Jessie play composed," Macer said. "She did a nice job of applying pressure and did a good job of making strong moves to finish around the rim."

Theresa Parr (11), Seina Adachi (10) and Jada Marone (10) also reach double-digit point totals. Parr and Marone's play off the bench was matched by Tamia Ridley, who led the team with six rebounds.

Notre Dame will look to bounce back at Concord on Saturday, December 7. The tipoff in Athens, W.Va. is scheduled for 2 p.m.
